There’s a lot of chatter out there about further raising the Federal Minimum Wage. On the surface, it seems like a humanitarian thing to do to help the poor earn more. But decades of research on the subject are inconclusive that it actually alleviates poverty or really helps the poor. What is conclusive is that it hurts business owners when the government interferes with how they make financial decisions—and that often causes them to cut entry-level jobs, leaving the poor in a worse state than before. I think it’s better to offer social services to the poor and my Universal Basic Income (through leased Federal land) to everyone then to further tamper with the Federal Minimum Wage (or state minimum wages). This is likely not a popular opinion with liberals, but I implore you to examine the enormous research done on the impact of minimum wages, and how they increase inequality and poverty. #UpgradingAmerica #Zoltan2020 #minimumwage
