After winning the Democratic primary in June, Snow made headlines along with Misty Plowright, another transgender candidate who won her primary for a congressional seat in Colorado. The race has Snow down by as much as over 30% in some polls. One of the biggest factors in the race has been money. Incumbent Mike Lee has been able to spend over $4 million dollars on the race while Misty Snow has spent just under $6 thousand. Large corporations including Microsoft, the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball franchise and many republican SuperPACs are backing Lee’s campaign.

“YOU COULD RUN FOR OFFICE, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY; YOU CAN GIVE VOICE TO ISSUES YOU CARE ABOUT AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE.”

“It doesn’t matter what you look like, where you are from, what your background is or what your education is,” Snow told voters in a report by NBC News. “You could run for office, you can make a difference in your community; you can give voice to issues you care about and make a difference.”

Snow was born in Salt Lake City in 1985 and lived her entire life in Utah. The 31 year old was working as a grocery store cashier when she won her nomination. She considers herself a progressive I the mold of Senator Bernie Sanders she says she is fighting against income inequality and the rights of women, people of color and the LGBT community.
