Londonn Moore was found face down shot to death at the intersection of Sawyer Circle and Red Oak Road at around 7:30 AM EDT on Saturday morning.
According to Police, the motive behind her murder is not yet known and there are currently no suspects in the case.
After a long search, Detectives later found Moore’s vehicle in Port Charlotte, and say they found evidence inside the vehicle that they hope would lead them to the person responsible.
LGBTQ+ advocacy groups in Charlotte County are calling on law enforcement to investigate the murder as a hate crime, and the North Port Police Department is not ruling out the possibility.
“We have no information at this point that it was a hate crime,” said Joshua Taylor from the North Port Police Department to NBC News 2. “However, it's on the table, certainly it could come out that way. Part of figuring out why it was done includes talking to who did it. We have to get to that point.”
The police have been reluctant to provide further details regarding the case while it is still under investigation. They are asking anyone who has information that could lead to an arrest to contact Detective Chris Maki at 941-429-7323.
Moore is the 20th transgender person to be murdered in the United States in 2018.
Rest in power Londonn Moore!
