On Sep. 20, the U.S. Army released a video showing American soldiers training Ukrainian troops. During the video, an American officer stated that after the training, the Ukrainian forces are “going off to fight in the conflict in the east.” As the U.S. attempts to execute this difficult task, American journalists undermine it by spreading lies accusing President Trump of engaging in illegal activity involving Ukraine.
Ukraine has been fighting a war in the eastern portion of its borders against Russian-backed forces since 2014. The U.S. has provided varying levels of assistance to Ukraine during this time. But in a Sep. 20 video produced by the U.S. Army 5th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Lt. Col. Michael Starz of the 101st Airborne Division openly talks about how American troops, via Rapid Trident 2019, are directly training Ukrainian forces in-country in order to help them fight their war. (The following quote starts around the 0:08 mark).
“We take a lot of pride in the fact that the brigades leave [sic] here are going off to fight in the conflict in the east.”
One national force training a different national force for an ongoing war is difficult. But it becomes even harder when others are undermining relations between those two nations. And as journalists spread their latest lies about Trump (accusing him of engaging in illegal activity during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky) undermining American-Ukrainian relations is exactly what they are doing.
No one has expressed any concern about this. And it doesn’t appear as if anyone will.
