On May 4, Fox News had Iraq Christian Relief Council President Juliana Taimoorazy as a guest to talk about the attacks Christian across the world face. Christians in Iraq have particularly suffered. And they have particularly suffered since the U.S. overthrew Saddam Hussein.
I’m a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve. I deployed to the Iraq War from late 2009 through mid 2010. That means I (a Christian) helped stabilize the officially Islamic theocracy that America set up post Saddam Hussein.
Unlike conventional thinkers on the right and left, I don’t have a problem with the U.S. going to war in Iraq. America had plenty of reasons for doing so. But I do have a problem with those on the left and right in America who undermined that war. I also have a problem with America setting up an officially Islamic theocracy, and with how the U.S. contributed to the destruction of Christians.
I don’t expect the plight of Christians in Iraq to become an issue of major concern for anyone of import. But it matters to me. And the attacks on Christians across the globe matter to me too.
