In the 1998 movie The Siege, Islamic terrorists attack America and the U.S. responds by persecuting Muslims and Arabs, and by declaring martial law. The literal opposite happened in real life following the Sep. 11, 2001 Islamic terrorist attacks on the U.S. Indeed, today it’s we of the general population of America (largely non-Islamic) whom the government is caging in our homes, stripping us of our jobs and incomes, and otherwise infringing on our civil liberties.
I watched all or parts of The Siege years ago and thought it was ridiculous. I’m certain I’d think it was even more ridiculous if I tried watching it today. Mind you, I have no intention on mistreating myself like that. I wouldn’t recommend you do it either. Watching the above trailer will let you know enough about the movie and how terribly it’s aged.
