"The Last Jedi" doesn't deserve the scorn it has received.

As the exact opposite of an early adopter/fanboy, I finally saw "The Last Jedi" last night on demand.

Except for having a body count higher than "Saving Private Ryan" and what seemed to be an endless climax, it was a pretty good movie and certainly a worthy Star Wars film.

The best trait of the eight installment is a courageous step away from the old formula. You do have to get past the absurd idea that the First Order is Empire and the Republic must have lasted seven minutes.

(SPOILERS - but if you haven't seen it by this point, you don't care anyway.)

There are some satisfying departures from the formulaic themes. The ending of the Jedi Order and the Sith master/apprentice relationship give me A New Hope.
