Gamer guys and gals alike are already anticipating the highlights of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), as some companies have already been holding press conferences to bring out their big guns...and big dogs.
There have been several games announced so far, but two of the biggest responses have come with the help of star power, namely Keanu Reeves, who announced this weekend he will have a part in the Xbox game Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077, adapted from the 1988 tabletop game of the same name, is "an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification." The main playable character is the mercenary V, who will encounter Reeves's character, Johnny Silverhand, during game play.
Cyperpunk 2077 is set for release on April 16, 2020, but the official trailer will get you psyched now:
With Reeves rising higher and higher in the geek god world, especially as he is still riding the wave of dog lovers' favorite action hero John Wick, Ubisoft decided to up the ante by bringing out The Punisher himself, Jon Bernthal (with his own real-life, rescued, pit bull "Bam Bam"), to announce his part in the game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which comes out Oct. 4.
Bernthal plays Colonel Cole D. Walker, the leader of the game's baddies, a group of ex-Ghosts called The Wolves.
No, it doesn't look like Bam Bam will be a video game star, but he certainly won the audience over with his appearance. Here's a peek at Walker motivating his troops in the trailer Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
The E3 2019 is set for June 11-13 in Los Angeles with more surprises to come. So far, it looks the winner of the superstar battle between Reeves and Bernthal will be the gamers.
