On Feb. 4, The Hollywood Reporter quoted Birds of Prey actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead as saying “[i]t feels great to not be standing behind a bunch of men” with regards to making the movie. And as the box office numbers come in, it appears that men and women are feeling pretty swell about not standing behind the bunch of women who made the DC Comics film.

Winstead’s full quote about making Birds of Prey was: “It feels great to not be standing behind a bunch of men, but to actually be standing in front of it as women with something that we made, something that we’re proud of and something that we put our blood, sweat and tears into.”

Since then, the DC Comics movie has not performed all that well. In fact, Warner Brothers has actually changed the title of the movie following its release.

In summary, the cast and filmmakers did what they could to discourage men from seeing Birds of Prey. A significant number of men appeared to have obliged them. All-in-all, a happy ending for everyone.
