Pet of the Week: Shih Tzu and Cat Seeking Homes

Courtesy of Cascades Humane Society

Two featured pets, Pebbles and Helena, are available for adoption at Cascades Humane Society.

Pebbles is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu. This tiny, 15-pound dog is housebroken, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and crate-trained. She is afraid of big dogs.

Helena is a 9-year-old cat who is laid-back, great with kids, and good with other cats. She is litter-trained, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed.

Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, is now open to the public from 12 to 6 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. Walk-ins are permitted, but appointments are preferable.

Officials implement CDC guidelines, including social distancing, mask-wearing, hand-washing, and having those who are ill stay home. CHS encourages patrons to consider pets prior to arrival to minimize physical exposure in the facility.

CHS added services to its Spay and Neuter Assistance program, including vaccines and dental procedures. The facility also provides a Pet Food Pantry for struggling families, open from 12 to 2 PM on the first Saturday of the month.

Those considering adopting, apply here, and then call 517-787-7387 ext 128 or 110 to set up an appointment.
