"I stand as a Christian woman, someone who believes in equality and truth and loyalty and honesty."

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said during an interview in May that “as a Christian woman,” she does not care if people call her a liar, because she ultimately works for “the big guy upstairs.”

  • CBN’s David Brody noted during the interview that McEnany is being called “a lot of names” in the media: “You said you will not lie and they are calling you a liar and they’re calling you other names: racist and birther and all that type of stuff.”
  • McEnany brushed off the criticism by turning to her professed belief system.

“I know the person I am, and I know what I stand for. And I stand as a Christian woman, someone who believes in equality and truth and loyalty and honesty. It’s the values I’ve lived by my whole life. It’s the values I’ll continue to live by.

“People will malign you. It comes with the job but I know who I’m ultimately working for and it’s the big guy upstairs. And my mission in life is that when I pass that He will look at me and say, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.'

“If I can end my life that way, it doesn’t matter what the people say on the way there.”

McEnany has come under fire after telling the White House press corps during her first press briefing that she would never tell a lie from the podium: “I will never lie to you. You have my word on that,” she said.

In the very same briefing, McEnany lied more than once, Vox reported at the time.
