The viral “Storm Area 51” memes that plastered every social media platform just a couple months ago has created “Alienstock”, an alien-themed music festival in Rachel, Nevada, set to take place September 19-22, according to Bored Panda.
Matty Roberts, a 21-year-old student from Bakersfield, California and the original creator of the “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us” Facebook event, worked with several collaborators to organize the event to bring together people of like-minded sentiments.
Yet, technical complications and concerns from the residents of Rachel caused Roberts to back out of the project. He instead invited everyone to “Area 51 Celebration,” a single-night music even in Los Angeles that he will headline.
Roberts justified his withdrawal from “Alienstock” by citing issues such as security problems, sanitation, medical personnel, and insurance permits.
Despite Roberts backing out of the project, people still showed up to the original event.
Channel 13 sent a live reporter to see what the original event had turned into, since it was no longer professionally managed. As the reported described what was going on in Rachel, a man Naruto-ran past him -- a delight to anyone at least a bit familiar with the original memes.
