Countries that are spending less on energy are the ones that have embraced the use of renewable resources. The sources for this power include solar, water, wind, geothermal, and biomass. This group, also referred to as green energy, is unlimited and costs less than the conventional one.
Some countries across the globe have embraced the usage of this energy. Among them is the United States, Denmark, Costa Rica, Germany, and Uruguay among others. Here in the US, there are many states who have shown great initiative to adopt solar power. A good example is Florida’s solar initiatives and the success the state is seeing. One of the forms of energy that has become a sensation is solar power. It has been referred to in many instances as a cheap source of energy.

The sun is offered free of charge which makes this form of energy more affordable. Also, accessing power from the source is more economical than when a local power plant is involved. Solar power is currently being used in many countries to light up homes and businesses. This energy is harnessed when solar-powered photovoltaic panels convert sun rays into electricity.

Usage of this power not only cuts costs but is also safe for the environment given the current carbon footprint and the effects of non-renewable energy. In the coming years, combustion of fossil fuel will not be welcomed as the world is looking to adopt cleaner and affordable energy sources.
The composition of solar panels and uses
But, how are solar panels made? They consist of silicon cells, metal frame, standard 12V wire, Plexiglas, and bus wire. The primary material used to make these panels is silicon cells. This material exists in three structures: the amorphous, single cell, and the polycrystalline forms. The single cell also known as the monocrystalline forms as the most common in many panels.
The conductive properties of this nonmetal compound give it the ability to convert sunlight to electricity. Although, silicon does not work independently. Solar energy has multiple uses. It is being harnessed for cooking, heating buildings, making water hot, and generating electricity which is used to power engines. Water heating is enabled by the solar heater and saves on the electricity bill. The solar heater has two systems of heating. One is the liquid system that works as an antifreeze solution, and the other is an air-based collector. Currently, people are utilizing solar cooking as it is environment-friendly and inexpensive.
Solar cooking has become a thing in areas where deforestation is a huge issue, and there are limited resources to buy fuel. With this solution, mirrors are used to trap the sun rays. Solar cells have also become common among users. They work to supplement electric power from the grid system, particularly in remote areas. Energy produced by solar cells is also stored in rechargeable batteries to be used at a later time.
