Tesla founder Elon Musk revealed a design for a personal submarine at this week’s shareholder meeting, according to Car and Driver.
However, the idea for a submersible vehicle for civilian use didn’t originate from Musk. A shareholder asked at a meeting “specifically whether Tesla [was] working on a car capable of land and sea travel.”
The core business model of Tesla, being a car manufacturer, has suffered several setbacks and has only recently turned its first quarterly profit.
Car and Driver reported that Musk personally believes that Tesla should focus on its core business, “since he dismissed the submarine talk at the shareholder meeting as a distraction.”
