Coronavirus Conspiracy Theorist Dies After Intentionally Catching Virus
The COVID-19 patient had believed the virus was fake, but recently died in a hospital in Texas.
- The hoax theorist attended a ‘Covid Party,’ in which a person who believes they have the virus meets with others to test whether the virus is real or not.
- The patient’s condition deteriorated until they were critically ill.
- Dr. Jane Appleby, the Chief Medical Officer at Methodist Healthcare, said, “Just before the patient died, they looked at their nurse and said ‘I think I made a mistake, I thought this was a hoax, but it’s not.’”
- Dr. Appleby attempts to convince people to take precautions, as “It doesn’t discriminate and none of us are invincible.”
As of Thursday in Bexar County, Texas, nearly 18,000 people tested positive for COVID-19 in their area, with the positive rate leaping to 22 percent.
