Systemic Racism

The letter I sent to my Senator, Pat Toomey (R).

For once, please show some backbone and condemn the latest Racist and despicable remarks of the president. Are you really going to stay silent when he says such deplorable things as, “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” As we both know, you never said a thing about his previous Racist remarks, e.g., launching his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists; going to war with the parents of a Muslim soldier killed in battle; encouraging violence against minority protesters at his rally; promising to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it; attacks on protesting black athletes, his claim that there were fine people “on both sides” after neo-Nazis rioted in Charlottesville, Va., his claims for years that Barack Obama was not born in the United States, and took out advertisements calling for the death penalty for members of the Central Park Five — four black youths and a Hispanic youth who were accused of a brutal rape in New York and later exonerated. Of course, this goes as far back as the Nixon Administration when he and his father were sued in 1973 for systematically discriminating against black people in housing rentals. The Trumps eventually settled on terms that were regarded as a victory for the government.
