Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus was of Greek origin. He eventually became a Roman citizen and changed his name to 'Plutarch'. To modern audiences, he is primarily known as a biographer due to his, 'Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans', a mainstay for classicists.
