Without Irony, Tennessee Official Quotes Bible To Say Islam Is “Violent”
A Tennessee district attorney and unapologetic Christian quoted the Bible while saying that Islam is a “violent” religion and that being a Muslim is akin to “being part of the KKK, Aryan Nation, etc,” Patheos reports.
Coffee County District Attorney Craig Northcott made the comments on Facebook. He called Islam “evil, violent and against God’s truth.”
“They are taught to commit many atrocities in the name of their ‘god’ including pedophilia, beating of their wives, female genital mutilation and ‘honor’ killings [...] Romans 1:32 comes to mind in which we are taught that you are just as guilty before God if you give approval to those who engage in evil acts.”
And while watchdog organizations have called for Northcott to resign in the wake of his incendiary and hateful comments, Northcott has instead doubled down on his comments.
“If they figured I would apologize for calling hate in any form evil, they miscalculated,” he wrote. “If they expect me to denounce my faith because of their tactics, they are going to be disappointed.”
The issue, Northcott fails to realize, is not that he called out hate—rather, it’s that he implies that Islamic radicals are symbolic of all Muslims in the entire world, writing that those who follow Islam “by definition” are supportive of “evil belief system whether they understand/act on it or not.”
Northcott continued to compare his “tribulation” to the suffering of Jesus Christ himself.
