WHITE HOUSE SPOKESPERSON: “I CAN DEFINITIVELY SAY THE PRESIDENT IS NOT A LIAR”

In testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee today, former FBI Director James Comey’s characterized Donald Trump as a liar.

White House Spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders rejected this characterization when she spoke to the press.

“I can definitively say the president is not a liar. I think it is frankly insulting that question would be asked.”

Mrs. Sanders claimed ignorance when asked if President Donald Trump uses a taping system for conversations in the White House.

“I have no idea,” she said.

Mr. Comey struck an assertive and confident tone while speaking to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

During his opening statement, Mr. Comey told the Committee, “The administration chose to defame me and, more importantly, the FBI by saying that the organization was in disarray, that it was poorly run. Those were lies, plain and simple,” he said.

The former FBI Director said he began taking notes of his interactions with the President because he did not trust him. “I was honestly concerned he might lie about the nature of our meeting, so I thought it really important to document,” he said.
