Vice President Michael Pence said on Thursday that the Democratic Party supports infanticide, echoing Trump’s suggestions last month that doctors are part of a conspiracy to execute babies, according to The Hill.
Pence spoke alongside Canadian Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau in that country’s capital, where he claimed to be worried by "the Democratic party in our country, and leaders around the country, supporting late-term abortion, even infanticide."
"For President Trump, for me, for our administration, we'll always stand for the right to life,” said the politician, after affirming that Canada would deal with those same issues in their own way.
In a Wisconsin rally held last month, Trump said Democrats are "aggressively pushing extreme late-term abortion, allowing children to be ripped from their mother's womb."
Abortion at any stage of pregnancy has been legal in Canada since 1988, and Trudeau has repeatedly manifested himself against restrictive abortion laws, including those recently passed or proposed in six American states.
"It's a shame that we increasingly see conservative governments and conservative politicians taking away rights that have been hard-fought over many, many years by generations of women and male allies," Trudeau said.
The Prime Minister had previously said he was "deeply disappointed” after Alabama's governor signed a bill that will virtually ban all abortions in that state.
