WH Spox Attacks Fellow Americans For Distrusting The U.S. Intelligence Community
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham slammed Americans this week who are questioning the intelligence behind the strike ordered by President Donald Trump that resulted in Iranian General Qassem Soleimani’s death, according to Mediaite.
Speaking on Fox News Tuesday morning, Grisham said it is “really unfortunate” that anyone is criticizing or doubting the intelligence behind Trump’s decision.
Asked about the nature of the intelligence, Grisham said she could not offer details on the purported information showing that Soleimani was planning major attacks against Americans but suggested that no one should be questioning the legitimacy of the secret information.
“I know a lot of people are now questioning the intel, that’s really unfortunate,” she said. “A lot of people are saying [about the strike], ‘To what benefit?’ I would answer that question: The benefit is to that we saved American lives. Saved members of the military, we saved diplomats, and a lot of families from having to welcome their loved ones home in coffins.”
Grisham made no mention of Trump’s own distrust of the U.S. intelligence community, which he has disparaged and railed against nearly his entire first term.
Trump has repeatedly suggested the “deep state” is trying to undermine his presidency and in 2018 sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin over his own intelligence officials, Mediaite noted.
