Sarah Sanders told reporters Thursday that the White House "looks forward to seeing this hoax wrap up very soon."

During Thursday's press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said the president is hoping that special counsel Robert Mueller will end his Russia investigation "hoax" and the Department of Justice will train its sights on former Obama administration officials.

“We have no intentions of firing Bob Mueller. We are continuing to work closely and cooperate with him,” Sanders told Fox News. “We look forward to seeing this hoax wrap up very soon.”

Sanders also responded to questions regarding Senator Rand Paul's (R-KY) tweet earlier in the day calling for an investigation into whether or not the Obama administration tried to prevent Trump's presidential victory:

Sanders said it is an issue that "should certainly be looked at," following along the lines of Trump's thoughts on the matter:

Trump has called the probe a “witch hunt” multiple times. On Tuesday, Donald Trump Jr. suggested that top government officials were out to undermine his father, and called the federal criminal investigation a “rigged system.”

“There is, and there are, people at the highest levels of government that don’t want to let America be America,” Trump Jr. said at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Tuesday.
