President Donald Trump again made light of MSNBC reporter Ali Velshi being injured while covering protests in May when he was shot with a rubber bullet by Minneapolis police.
Trump said during his rally in Florida on Thursday night, “Remember the CNN reporter? He went down,” wrongly identifying Velshi’s network.
“He got hit. He said, ‘I’m down, I’m down!’ And he was down,” the president continued. Trump claimed he felt bad for Velshi before telling the crowd: "They say it hurts. That is only going 52 miles per hour. A bullet goes about 2000 miles per hour."
Trump made similar comments during his rally in Minnesota last week.
"I remember this guy Velshi," Trump said. "He got hit in the knee with a canister of tear gas, and he went down. He was down. 'My knee. My knee.' Nobody cared. These guys didn't care. They moved him aside."
"And they just walked right through. It was the most beautiful thing," Trump added. "After we take all that crap for weeks and weeks, and you finally see men get up there and go right through them, wasn't it really a beautiful sight? It's called law and order."
