"If I listened to the scientists, we would right now have a country in a massive depression."

President Donald Trump attacked Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden on Sunday for saying he would heed the advice of scientists amid the coronavirus pandemic if he wins in November.

Trump has been at odds with public health and infectious disease experts throughout his administration’s response to the virus, but during his campaign rally in Nevada, he claimed that ignoring the scientists has had an economic advantage.

"He'll listen to the scientists,” Trump said mockingly on Sunday. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country in a massive depression instead of—we're like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers."
