She did not directly answer Wallace’s question about whether she wished the president would wear a mask or not.

On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace asked Dr. Deborah Birx, coordinator of the White House coronavirus task force, if she wished that President Trump would wear a mask during public events.

Dr. Birx defended Trump, telling Wallace that the president did wear a mask when in contact with people less than six feet apart. She admitted she is not with the president at all times but hopes he is maintaining social distancing when possible.

Dr. Birx said, “I’m assuming in a majority of cases [Trump] is able to maintain that six feet.”
