In a video posted by his attorney, Kyle Rittenhouse thanked his supporters as he sat in county jail.

Attorney John Pierce, who represents the 17-year-old accused of a double murder in Kenosha, Wisconsin, posted a video to Twitter in which the teen is asked to thank his “fans” for their support, Mediaite reported.

  • Rittenhouse currently is “awaiting trial in county jail for the alleged murders of two protesters in Kenosha,” the outlet noted. “His defense lawyer, Pierce, can be seen in the video clip posted to Twitter holding a phone — with Kyle Rittenhouse on the line from the jailhouse.”
  • In the clip, the individual recording asks of Pierce and Rittenhouse, “Guys, what do you want to say to the foundation and all the people that have supported our effort to free Kyle?”
  • The individual then notes that he is speaking with Pierce and that Rittenhouse is on the phone “direct from county jail,” adding, “Guys, what would you like to say to the fans?”
  • Rittenhouse responds:

“I just wanna thank every single one of you from the bottom of my heart for the underlining support. I just want to thank all of you for the mail I’ve been receiving. It’s been really helpful. I just want to let you all know that I’m going to be out of here soon. I hope to see you guys soon.”

  • Pierce spoke next, saying: “This is 100% self-defense. If this is not self-defense for Kyle Rittenhouse under these circumstances, then no one can protect themselves, no one can protect their family, and no one can protect their country.”
