They deserve what they get then. I can't believe they are THIS out of touch with reality. They, literally, are going to lose the farm because they simply aren't paying attention to the real world.

The intelligentsia in India scorned the people who work with their hands and they were scorned as not being 'sophisticated'. A rage against these 'intellectuals' has built up in India as those who work with their hands and those who identify with them have been scorned as 'lumpen' elements. These are easily swayed emotionally - by raising issues of pride - in one way or the other. When a leader rose up from the grass roots and skillfully and openly and crudely and RAGINGLY identified with their sense of hurt pride and their sense of 'we are marginalized and no one listens to us because we do not present ourselves with 'sophistication' - they simply LUMPED on to him and will not let go - come what may - because he 'speaks their rage' against the scorn that has been their lot. Amazingly it means they actually and subconsciously respect the intelligentsia and CARE about what they say and judge. Their rage against thinkers and those who are elaborate in logic and self-presentation and self-projection - without having to be LOUD - is displayed by the 'leader' - who plays to this gallery. And the pride becomes magnified and the RESPECT is given for being ROUGH and LOUD and CONSTANTLY-IN-FIGHTING-MODE - behaving THEIR way. And therefore they are LOYAL - because they are given the feeling of BEING IMPORTANT. So thirsty are human beings for RESPECT (a million times more than the thirst for Love) that they will even be trampled and raped and exploited openly by One who is cunning enough to say a few lame words of RESPECT for them and their ASPIRATIONS (however irrelevant to reality those aspirations - like wanting a big statue or a big temple) - they will even be trampled by the One - and his policies and decisions - but they will admire that he took the decisions with a SHOW of RAGE AND LOUDNESS AND CRUDENESS AND DEFIANCE. That One is expressing that he is in tune with their FEAR of being JUDGED, MARGINALIZED and SCORNED. Because that One displays an artful FEARLESSNESS - and JUDGES, MARGINALIZES and SCORNS - the intelligentsia!!!!! This game is at a primal level. And must be understood to be a WASTE OF TIME by both sides. What I see in India - I see in the USA. The above interview of the Farmers tells me that the emotional equations and the leadership equations in USA are no different from the ones in Indian Politics. One side is fighting for what it takes to be a logical and 'obvious' understanding of the situation - the other is fighting for the freedom to accept 'gut feeling' to be enough of a reason to back somebody. Both are alienated from each other by the smart parasitic leaders who simply want to RULE OVER this divided polity. The two sides are showing signs of learning to fight the Other with the other's weapons - so the lumpen use the logical arguments too, and the logic-weeds are learning to be aggressive and bullying. Both have lost the basic plot of living - 'together in sensitivity'.
