US TO ANNOUNCE CHARGES AGAINST MEMBERS OF TURKISH PRESIDENT’S SECURITY DETAIL FOR BEATING PROTESTERS

U.S. law enforcement will officially announce charges tomorrow against members of the Turkish President’s security detail for their involvement in an assault on protesters outside the Turkish ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C.

The Washington Police, along with the Secret Service and State Department have been investigating the May 16th incident for nearly a month. This is considered a retaliatory step against Turkey for its apparent disregard for American laws protecting free speech.

Last week the House of Representative unanimously passed a resolution called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for harming the protesters.

A video from the incident showed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan watching the assault and then ducking into the safety of his luxury Mercedes.
