U.S. May Be More Unequal Today Than France Was Before Its Revolution

The wealthiest Americans essentially constitute nobility in the United States.

“In 2017, the USA in 2017 is more unequal than France was in 1789 (just prior to the French Revolution). Today the top 1 % owns 38.9% of the wealth (all assets including land), and before the French Revolution their top 3% owned 35% of the land.”

At the time, how much land one owned considered a strong barometer of one's wealth and class status.
