Two Hundred Advised to Quarantine after Gym Member Tests Positive

Over 200 people who went to a gym in West Virginia are being advised to quarantine for the next 14 days.

One of the clients of Planet Fitness tested positive for Covid-19. "Anyone who was at Planet Fitness between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 should stay at home for 14 days since being exposed, which would be until Wednesday, July 8," the Monongalia County Health Department said in a statement.

Around two hundred and five people were at the gym during the 6-hour period. They have all been contact and asked to stay at home and to get tested if they become symptomatic. Despite new guidelines in gyms, there is still concern over how quickly the virus can spread in that environment.

"West Virginia is seeing an increase in cases, about 400 in the past 12 days, the Monongalia County Health Department reports. In the 10 days prior to that, cases rose by about 240", CNN reports.

Planet Fitness Morgantown announced that they would be closing for additional deep cleaning, "in the interest of the community", a spokesperson said. Governor Jim Justice will be holding a press conference on the developments of Covid-19 in West Virginia.
