Tucker Carlson Shedding Advertisers After Saying Immigrants Make US "Dirtier"

During his Dec. 13 monologue, Fox's Tucker Carlson said immigrants make America "poorer and dirtier and more divided."

Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s comment earlier this month that immigrants make America "poorer and dirtier and more divided” is causing advertisers to flee, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Whereas Tucker Carlson Tonight routinely had some 40 corporate ads prior to his comment, the average has since been some 28 nightly -- plummeting to a low of 21 Wednesday evening. Tucker Carlson Tonight has also gone from five ad breaks to four “and has leaned far more heavily on so-called house ads that promote Fox News programming and Fox Broadcasting Company scripted television shows,” The Hollywood Reporter notes.

“Carlson's show now regularly includes as many as seven such ‘house’ ads, which help fill lost spots, along with public service announcements,” the outlet also said.

But Fox News said it’s not outside the ordinary to see fewer ads during the holidays:

A Fox News spokesperson reportedly said that shows usually have lighter ads “during the holiday period between Christmas and the first few weeks of the New Year. Ad loads pick up toward the end of the month.”
