“Yes, I really did hear Trump-inspired Christmas carols outside the town hall held today in Michigan by @RepSlotkin, who announced she would vote to impeach Trump. https://t.co/NnuzR31Grl https://t.co/aNC6FNM5yW”
Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) announced to a crowd of about 400 people on Monday that she would vote to impeach President Donald Trump — an unpopular move in her right-leaning district.
“Whether you agree with me or not, I have attempted to be transparent, to be communicative and to let you know what I was doing,” the first-term congresswoman said. “And for me, this was an issue of principle. I felt it in my bones.”
But Trump supporters were having none of it, The New York Times’ Sheryl Gay Stolberg reported, offering chants of “Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Elissa Slotkin has got to go!”
Outside the town hall-style meeting was a woman “dressed in a red and white Santa hat with the word ‘TRUMP’ spelled in red glitter,” and Trump-themed Christmas carols were blaring from a “Trump Unity” truck, Stolberg said.
