Trump: Wind Power Is A Bad Option, Because What If The Earth Runs Out Of Wind?

Once again displaying his lack of understanding of renewable energy sources, President Donald Trump joked on Wednesday for a second time that people would have to turn off their televisions when the wind stops blowing if the U.S. moves toward using “windmills” for energy generation.

According to Newsweek, Trump was speaking at a tank factory in Lima, Ohio, when he made the joke, telling the audience of workers that "Hillary [Clinton] wanted to put windmills all over the place."

The president went on to describe a fictional conversation as though he were at home watching TV, relying on wind for power: “Let's put up some windmills. When the wind doesn't blow, just turn off the television darling, please. There's no wind, please turn off the television quickly."

Newsweek noted that Trump appeared to confuse wind turbines with windmills throughout his comments on the issue.

He also claimed that putting up “windmills” would decrease property values, though the president offered no data to back up the assertion.

"Put the windmills up, and watch the value of your house if you’re in sight of a windmill—watch the value of your house go down by 65 percent,” Trump suggested. "Wonderful to have windmills. And solar’s wonderful too, but it’s not strong enough, and it’s very very expensive.”

Trumped debuted his joke about the television earlier this month as he criticized the Democrats’ Green New Deal, which lays out an aggressive response to climate change, during his lengthy speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“I think it's something [Democrats] should really promote...no planes, no energy. When the wind stops blowing, that's the end of your electric. 'Darling is the wind blowing today? I'd like to watch television.'"

The president’s take on renewable energy assumes that solar and wind power are not viable because the wind can die down and clouds can hide the sun — a position he uses to boost the merits of continued reliance on fossil fuels.

While speaking to the tank factory workers, Trump reportedly also boasted that the U.S. produces more crude oil and natural gas than any other country.

That's typically how his arguments are misrepresented to an America people who speak at a 10th grade level , half of whom understand little more! But NO WIND POWER IS INTERMITTENT because THE WIND DOESN"T ALWAYS BLOW BOYS AND GIRLS, it is environmentally PROBLEMATIC BECAUSE IT KILLS often very endangered BIRDS, it's subject to SEVERE MAINTENANCE problems, just look are and see all the mills in a field NOT WORKING. BUT MOST OF ALL IT UGLY AS HELL BECAUSE IT EFFACES THE GOD DAMNED LANDSCAPE ! Why would you EVEN THINK about doing something like that- COMPLETELY COST INEFFECTIVE AND INEFFICIENT in most areas of the country where the wind IS NOT STEADY!!! (you are the moron for berating Trump)

Does he even understand solar and wind power. The batteries are charged for power consumption. I had one solar panel on my ranch hooked up to batteries, so I could have lights and electricity for cell phone and computer at night when there was no sun.

It really doesn't matter since we are all doomed. The fossil fuel lobby is too strong. Humans will cease to exist in another 100 years.

Once again, he opens his mouth and shows the entire world the extent of his ignorance.

And yet the terrifying thing is millions of Americans STILL somehow believe anything trump says and believe he's as smart as he constantly pretends he is.

Eh, what is there to worry about? Even if the Earth were to run out of wind this windbag blows more than enough hot air to keep us powered for centuries.

Trump is just being a pissant because he lost the hearing with the Scottish Parliament. When asked to provide expert witness, he said that he was his own. This created snickering in the room.

Another sideline to this is the farmer whose property is seen from the golf course. He hates Trump, posts signs mocking him and has refused to be bought off by Trump. Trump is suing him. A total stranger proposed to the farmer to buy a half acre. The farmer took the offer and now has a partner in his land ownership. In Scotland, both parties must be served papers from the Court. The new partner has a long term job assignment in Antarctica.

Stephen Hawking: Earth Could Turn Into Hothouse Planet Like Venus Earth could turn into a hothouse planet like Venus, with boiling oceans and acid rain, if humans don't curb irreversible climate change, physicist Stephen Hawking claimed in a recent interview. "We are close to the tipping point, where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump's action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of 250 degrees [Celsius], and raining sulfuric acid," he told BBC News, referring to the president's decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate deal.
