Trump Threatens To Withhold Aid To PA Because Gov. Didn’t Help His Campaign
President Trump threatened to withhold federal aid from Pennsylvania on Monday, complaining Gov. Tom Wolf (D) had made it difficult for his campaign to find a place to hold his rally, according to The Daily Beast.
“So Tom Wolf, next time give us a little notice, governor,” Trump said Monday at the Allentown rally appearance, claiming “your governor made it almost impossible for us to find any site” for the event. “And I’ll remember it, Tom. I’m going to remember it, Tom. ‘Hello, Mr. President, this is Gov. Wolf, I need help, I need help.’ You know what? These people are bad.”
- The report noted that Trump also claimed falsely that Wolf has “the whole commonwealth” on lockdown, “spreading his baseless conspiracy theory that restrictions would be lifted on the day after the election, because he believes the moves are being used to hurt his re-election effort.”
- NBC News reported that Trump also urged Wolf to reopen the state's churches, though the governor never ordered them closed during the pandemic.
- Coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania are on the upswing again, with new case numbers rivaling those recorded in April early in the state’s outbreak.
