Trump: ‘There Was Nobody Here’ In America 25 Years Ago So The Water Was Cleaner

President Trump said the press would ding him if he claimed the U.S. currently has the cleanest water in its history.

Speaking to Republicans at a retreat in Baltimore on Thursday, President Donald Trump boasted that his administration reversed Obama-era clean water regulations, adding that, “We have the cleanest water, the cleanest air that we’ve ever had in the history of our country, right now.”

But according to RawStory, the president then went on to make a bizarre statement:

“And just for the press, because they’ll get me on that one, I’m thinking, let’s say the history of our country over the last 25 years... I would say they probably had cleaner water, cleaner air because there was nobody here. So I have to be very accurate.”

He didn't say the was no one here 25 years ago. Obviously, he meant the air and water was cleaner when there was no one here. The act being talked about is not what has given us the current clean water and air. Obama's clean air act was a mess of ambiguity and needed to be eliminated. It could have fined you for filling in depression in your yard that held water for a day or two after heavy rain. Should the federal government be in charge of that? I don't think so. It was a bad law. Trump was right to get rid of it. As to his little speach flub, big deal. It happens during extemporaneous speaking. Just listen to Biden for a few minutes.
