Trump Pokes Fun At Jacketless Jim Jordan: He’s Clearly “Very Proud Of His Body”
President Donald Trump had a little fun at Rep. Jim Jordan’s expense during his press conference on Thursday, chiding the Ohio Republican for his habit of going jacket-free.
The Hill reported that Trump acknowledged each of the GOP lawmakers present for his public remarks, intended to celebrate his recent acquittal in the Senate. Singling out Jordan, the president said: "When I first got to know Jim, I said, 'Huh. He never wears a jacket. What the hell’s going on?' He’s obviously very proud of his body."
"And they say where he works out … the machine starts burning. It’s just a different form of a workout from us," Trump continued, generating laughter from other lawmakers in the room. "But one day I’m looking, and he looks tough, and I’m looking at those ears. And I say, 'Those ears have something going on there.' I say, did you ever wrestle?"
Jordan is a former collegiate wrestler who garnered national headlines in recent years over his role in the sex abuse scandal that rocked Ohio State University, where he was the assistant wrestling coach during the 1990s.
Though he was not accused of sexual misconduct himself, Jordan faced allegations that he was aware of and chose to ignore sexual abuse by the university’s inhouse physician.
Jordan has denied the allegations.
In Washington, the congressman has earned a reputation as a fierce Trump supporter who has tenaciously defended the president and attacked his critics, he Hill noted.
