Trump On Kim Jong Un: “People Say He Only Smiles When He Sees Me”
During a fundraiser in the Hamptons on Friday, President Donald Trump boasted of his relationship with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, according to the New York Post.
The president bragged to the wealthy donors that “ people say [Kim] only smiles when he sees me,” adding that he had received yet another “beautiful letter” from the leader.
“If I hadn’t been elected president, we would be in a big, fat, juicy war with North Korea,” Trump insisted.
At the same event, the president mimicked South Korean and Japanese accents as he spoke of his dealing with America’s allies, disparagingly noting how they caved to his trade demands.
Trump also said he asked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about kamikaze pilots, as Abe’s father was such a pilot. The president said he asked if kamikaze pilots drank or used drugs prior to their flights, to which Abe reportedly replied, no, they just loved their country.
Trump appeared impressed, saying, “Imagine they get in a plane with a half a tank of gas and fly into steel ships just for the love of their country!”
The president also criticized South Korea — which he said makes great TVs and has a solid economy — for not paying for its own defense.
“He then mimicked the accent of the leader Moon Jae-in while describing how he caved in to Trump’s tough negotiations,” the Post reported.
