Trump May Declare National Emergency Tonight During Primetime Address

The president plans to address the nation on Tuesday, at which time he might declare a national emergency at the border.

In an interview with NBC News' Hallie Jackson, Vice President Mike Pence indicated President Donald Trump will make his case to the American people Tuesday night that there is a humanitarian and national security crisis at the nation's southern border.

Trump has floated the idea of declaring a national emergency in order to get started on building a portion of his long-promised border wall, as he and congressional Democrats continue at an impasse over the wall's funding.
