Trump Lashes Out At Denmark’s PM After She Refuses To Sell Him Greenland

President Trump accused Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of having "blown off" the United States.

President Donald Trump blasted Denmark’s prime minister for her response to reports that he wants to buy Greenland from the country, saying she made a “nasty and inappropriate statement” in rejecting his offer.

The Hill reported that Trump did not appreciate Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s tone in responding to the idea: “I thought it was a very not nice way of saying something. They could have told me no.”

“All they had to say was we’d rather not do that,” Trump added, as he spoke with reporters on Wednesday. “Don’t say, what an absurd idea that is.”

“She’s not talking to me, she’s talking to the United States of America. You don’t talk to the United States that way.”

Frederiksen reportedly called the idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland, which is an autonomous Danish territory, an “absurd” proposal. She told reporters on Tuesday that "Greenland is not Danish. Greenland is Greenlandic. I persistently hope that this is not something that is seriously meant.”

Trump said the prime minister had “blown off” the United States but added that he loves Denmark and will reschedule his visit.

“I know Denmark well. I have many friends from Denmark. I have many people from Denmark who live in the United States,” he said.

The president also attacked Denmark this week over its NATO spending, tweeting, “For the record, Denmark is only at 1.35% of GDP for NATO spending. They are a wealthy country and should be at 2%. We protect Europe and yet, only 8 of the 28 NATO countries are at the 2% mark.”

It might sound abs*#d, but after hearing the prime minister direct the "a" word toward him, I can picture Trump throwing down his sippy cup and refusing to eat his cookies.

You know I try to sound mature on my posts, but I'm sorry, he is such an 🐎.

Unbelievable. No country in this planet and in modern history will sell an inch of territory. This is insanely stupid
