Trump Jr. Attacks Greta Thunberg For Winning Time’s ‘Person Of The Year’
Donald Trump Jr. lashed out at TIME magazine on Wednesday for choosing climate change activist Greta Thunberg for 2019 “Person of the Year,” according to The Hill.
The president’s eldest son referred to Thunberg — a 16-year-old from Sweden — as a “marketing gimmick” and said the magazine should have chosen the pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong for the honor.

“Time leaves out the Hong Kong Protesters fighting for their lives and freedoms to push a teen being used as a marketing gimmick. How dare you? https://t.co/dnV9mESM6G”
Trump Jr. appeared to mock Thunberg’s remarks at the United Nations earlier this year, when she said during a speech to world leaders:
“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words. And yet I'm one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying.
“Entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is money, and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
Thunberg has received plenty of criticism and vitriol from those on the right for her work bringing awareness to the threats climate change poses to humanity.
The teen has become "biggest voice on the biggest issue facing the planet,” TIME’s editor-in-chief, Edward Felsenthal, said during his Wednesday announcement of Person of the Year.
He added: “She also represents a broader generational shift in the culture that we’re seeing from the campuses of Hong Kong to the protests in Chile to Parkland, Fla., where the students marched against gun violence ,where young people are demanding change urgently.”
