Trump Is Rewarding Anti-Impeachment GOP Senators With Campaign Cash

Republican senators staying loyal to President Donald Trump during the House’s impeachment inquiry are receiving monetary rewards, according to a new report.
Trump’s re-election campaign “sent a fundraising appeal to its colossal email list telling donors to give money to a pot that would be divided by the president and three senators who have supported anti-impeachment moves,” The Daily Beast reported.
Politico, which first reported the story, noted that Senators Corey Gardner (CO), Joni Ernst (Iowa) and Thom Tillis (SC) all support an anti-impeachment resolution — which claims the inquiry is “unprecedented and undemocratic” — even though they face tough re-elections and are considered endangered in 2020.
In the email to Trump’s vast network of supporters, the president’s campaign wrote: “If we don’t post strong fundraising numbers... we won't be able to defend the President from this baseless Impeachment WITCH HUNT.”
