The president's since-deleted tweet put the death toll in Sri Lanka over six times the size of its population.

In a since-deleted tweet, U.S. President Donald Trump mistakenly claimed "at least 138 million" were killed in Easter morning bombings across Sri Lanka—a nation with only 21 million people, Raw Story reports.

“Heartfelt condolences from the people of the United States to the people of Sri Lanka on the horrible terrorist attacks on churches and hotels that have killed at least 138 million people and badly injured 600 more. We stand ready to help!” Trump wrote in the original tweet.

For perspective, the death toll that the president initially presented was roughly twice the number of total casualties in World War II, or over 40 percent of the total U.S. population.

Twitter users in response called Trump a "real math wizard" in response to the tweet.
