President Trump spent a lot of time during the holiday weekend golfing and attacking his political rivals.

President Donald Trump spent a healthy portion of time on Twitter this Memorial Day weekend defending his two golf outings and attacking Democratic American leaders, VICE News reported.

  • After taking criticism for golfing on both Saturday and Sunday, as the U.S. coronavirus toll neared 100,000, Trump lashed out on Twitter to defend himself and throw barbs once again at his predecessor, as well as former Vice President Joe Biden.

  • Following an attack over the golfing issue from Biden’s campaign, Trump tweeted that the campaign failed to note that Biden “was constantly vacationing, relaxing & making shady deals with other countries, & that [former President Barack Obama] was always playing golf, doing much of his traveling in a fume spewing 747 to play golf in Hawaii - Once even teeing off immediately after announcing the gruesome death of a great young man by ISIS!”

  • Trump lashed out again on Monday, tweeting that the “truly deranged” media was responsible for amplifying the story while ignoring Obama’s alleged misdeeds.

  • The president also shared tweets from John K. Stahl, a self-described “conservative, naval aviator, and retired high tech executive,” that mocked a handful of female Democratic leaders.

  • One of Stahl’s tweets mocked former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’ weight; another disparaged Hillary Clinton.

  • On Monday, Trump also called for states to reopen faster and schools to resume in-person classes, despite most states already deciding to keep schools closed for the remainder of the academic year and reports that coronavirus cases are on the rise in many areas.
