Trump Fears Democratic Success In 2018 Midterms Will Bring His Impeachment

President Trump warned Saturday night that Republican loss of the the House could usher in impeachment proceedings.

President Donald Trump told his supporters Saturday night that he is worried Democrats will impeach him if they regain majority in the House after midterm elections.

In particular, Trump was concerned with statements made by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who has long called for the president to step down or face impeachment.

“We have to keep the House because if we listen to Maxine Waters, she’s going around saying ‘We will impeach him,’ ” Trump said at a Michigan rally.

Last week at the Time 100 gala in New York, Waters urged Trump to “please resign.”

“So that I won’t have to keep up this fight of your having to be impeached because I don’t think you deserve to be there,” Waters said. “Just get out.”

The Hill notes that a recent Quinnipiac poll indicates more than 70 percent of Democrats would like to see lawmakers begin the impeachment process if they retake the House this fall.
