Trump Begs For Prayers Hours Prior To House Impeachment Vote
President Donald Trump asked his supporters for their prayers in a desperate-sounding tweet ahead of Wednesday’s House vote on the two articles of impeachment against him, according to The Daily Beast.
Trump seems to be placing bets on divine intervention a day after he slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in an anti-impeachment letter, in which he inappropriately claimed “more due process was afforded to those accused in the Salem Witch Trials.”
“Can you believe that I will be impeached today by the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats, AND I DID NOTHING WRONG! A terrible Thing. Read the Transcripts. This should never happen to another President again. Say a PRAYER!” he tweeted.
The first article of impeachment charges Trump with abuse of power for pressuring Ukraine to assist him in his re-election campaign by damaging Democratic rivals. The second charges him with obstruction of Congress for blocking testimony and withholding documents in response to House subpoenas in the impeachment inquiry.
The House is expected to vote on the two articles this evening, most likely between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. ET.
