Trump attorney John Dowd is now walking back his statement that Trump officially seeks Mueller's termination.
Now, Dowd claims that he was speaking on behalf of himself, not the President, as was previously indicated in his email to Daily Beast Reporter Betsy Woodruff.
“I pray that Acting Attorney General Rosenstein will follow the brilliant and courageous example of the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and Attorney General Jeff Sessions and bring an end to alleged Russia Collusion investigation manufactured by McCabe’s boss James Comey based upon a fraudulent and corrupt Dossier,” Dowd then wrote. He told The Daily Beast he was speaking on behalf of the president, in his capacity as the president’s attorney.
In an update, Dowd now claims his previous inflammatory statements were not on behalf of the President.
When The Daily Beast initially asked Dowd if he was speaking on behalf of the president, he answered, “Yes as his counsel.” After publication of this story, however, Dowd emailed to say he was actually speaking in his personal capacity, and not on the president’s behalf. The White House did not immediately return a request for comment.
