President Donald Trump retweeted a post by his re-election campaign on Thursday evening outing the alleged Ukraine whistleblower by name, according to The Daily Beast — against the warnings of White House advisers.
“It's pretty simple. The CIA ‘whistleblower’ is not a real whistleblower!” read the tweet by “Trump War Room”, which included a video and link to a Washington Examiner piece from earlier this month that used the alleged whistleblower’s name in the headline.
The president has spent weeks talking about the alleged whistleblower with “various friends, media figures, and senior administration officials, and had asked some people if they thought it was a good idea for him to publicly announce or tweet the name,” The Daily Beast previously reported.
White House advisers, including Ivanka Trump and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, reportedly cautioned Trump against making such a move. Fox News host Sean Hannity also warned the president not to make the name public, according to the publication.
