President Donald Trump has made spreading misinformation about abortion not only one of the main highlights of his campaign for the Oval Office in 2020, but also an official practice of the White House.
“Unlike radical Democrats who have cheered legislation allowing a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments from birth, President Trump is protecting our most innocent and vulnerable,” the White House said on Wednesday in response to criticism over Alabama’s new ban on abortion, even in cases of rape or incest, according to the Daily Beast.
But, as USA Today notes, federal data shows that babies in the U.S. are very rarely born during a failed abortion attempt. During an 11 year period from 2003 to 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention only found 143 deaths involving infants born during an abortion procedure.
Nonetheless, Trump told a crowd of supporters last week, “Democrats are aggressively pushing late-term abortion allowing children to be ripped from their mother’s womb, right up until the moment of birth. The baby is born and you wrap the baby beautifully and you talk to the mother about the possible execution of the baby.”
