As the Mueller investigation has made progress with the recent indictment of Roger Stone, the House intelligence committee is ready to continue its investigation into connections between Trump and Russia. However, the probe cannot be revived unless House Republicans name their members for the committee, as first pointed out on The Rachel Maddow Show.
According to to the Daily Beast, the committee cannot do integral work related to the Trump investigation until the Republican members have been named. Most important of this work includes providing transcripts of testimonies to the committee directly to the Mueller investigation, as many of the indictments have been found on account of supplying false statements to the House committee. Now that Democrats are in the majority, a Democratic aide stated, “There is an urgency in getting all of our transcripts to Mueller that we cannot ignore.”
“We’re ready to get going,” Mike Quigley, an Illinois Democrat on the panel, told The Daily Beast. “We are hopeful those appointments will be made early next week, and as soon as they are, we will get to work.”
