Tennessee Pastor Sentenced To 38 Years Behind Bars For Abusing Children
Ronnie Gorton, a former youth pastor in Akota, Tennessee, was convicted of sexually assaulting boys and has been sentenced to 38 years in prison, according to WREG Memphis.
Gorton was convicted of exploitation, contributing, furnishing alcohol, sexual battery by an authority figure, statutory rape, and continuance sexual abuse of a monir in August 2019.
A judge gave him a 38-year sentence on Friday, December 13.
Gorton told the jury that he met his accuser while working as a youth pastor at Awakening Church. After the child’s mother was arrested, the boy moved in with Gorton and his ex-wife Rhonda.
Although Gorton denied sexually molesting the boy, he has confessed to providing him alcohol as well as marijuana.
